We had a breakthrough this afternoon!

After lunch we took off on a nice muddy walk outside down the Kampala streets.  After we wore the little ones out we headed back inside to put them down for a nap.  Shabila started whimpering and holding her arms out.  I couldn’t figure out what she wanted.  Finally Josh told me would stay.  So he went over to console her.

She typically will not calm down with Josh but we thought that this would be a great time for him to show some extra love for her.  So, I walked out of the room and left him in with them.

I stood by the door just in case he needed back up.  After just a minute or two of crying she calmed down without my having to intervene at all!

Several minutes later he came down the stairs alone.  I asked him what had happened and he said that he picked her up and laid her in bed with him to cuddle and both she and Cai fell asleep within just minutes of them laying down together!

This may not seem like much to you all, but for us this is a HUGE breakthrough.  If you could have seen the smile on Josh’s face and the contentment in his eyes after this accomplishment you would see how big of a deal it was:)

After a good nap we walked down the street to a little Italian cafe.  It was AWESOME!  I mean, the food was great, yes, but the atmosphere was just what the kids needed!  There is a play area in the back with a trampoline, swings, slide and sandbox for the kids to play in while the food is cooking.  They also had kids tables set up near the cooking area for them to make their own pizzas!  They had a BLAST!

We have promised them ice cream from this same cafe tomorrow if we can all keep Happy Hearts and make it through our day in court:)

P.S. I just wanted to thank each of you for following our journey with us!  Especially for those of you writing such encouraging comments to us.  They come at just the right time and give us something to look forward to when we actually get internet connection back, ha!
